This case report describes a clinical case of bacteraemia, highlighting the role of neutrophils in innate host defence. It presents a male patient in his 70s who developed a fever during his hospital stay. Blood analysis revealed an elevated neutrophil count, along with an increased NEUT-RI. Subsequent blood cultures confirmed a Staphylococcus aureus infection.
